At JAWA, we’re committed to quality. Designed and engineered for the challenges of Australian conditions and jam-packed with over $20K worth of brand-name product inclusions as standard, our range of JAWA off road campers are the perfect blend of robust durability and luxury comforts and convenience. And to ensure we maintain the highest standards, every van undergoes a detailed and comprehensive quality control process.
JAWA’s 6 Stage Quality Control Process
We don’t hide the fact that our Aussie-designed caravans are constructed overseas and finished in Australia. We oversee all elements of van production, which includes quality assurance checks before our vans leave the factory in China. Then once our campers arrive in Australia, work continues in the JAWA workshop, where every van is inspected, tested and upgraded until we’re satisfied it meets the highest standards.
Long before you ever set foot in your new van, you can trust that it’s been through six detailed stages of quality control. Here’s how we do it.
STAGE 1: Pre-Delivery Checks, Exterior Accessory Fitting + Gas Plumbing
First, JAWA campers and caravans go through extensive pre-delivery checks. Each van arrives at our Australian workshop where it’s unloaded and ready for inspection. Our dedicated Quality Control officer goes through a thorough checklist, inspecting the van for defects, and conducting air and water testing. This step is essential and enables us to catch issues like surface damage or waterproofing faults. The process is meticulous and must be completed before our pre-delivery team can begin work on the van.
Our experienced pre-delivery team conduct their own checks before carrying out their duties. This includes fitting quality accessories like:
- awnings
- aerials
- backbars
- tow couplings
- jockey wheels
- dust reduction systems
If waterproofing issues are discovered during the QC inspection, the pre-delivery team will also reseal the van.
During pre-delivery, a licensed gas plumber installs the gas lines and plumbs in the hot water system, outdoor cooktop and extra bayonet.
Our stringent process sets us apart from the competition. Not all manufacturers who import their vans have a pre-delivery team dedicated to quality assurance, which can lead to faulty products slipping through the cracks. We always go the extra mile to ensure that every JAWA van is completely road-ready.
David from our pre-delivery team says: “We go over all vans methodically and with care. It can be the tiny details we take care of that make all the difference to our customers when they take their new JAWA out for the first time. For example, we make sure that the spare tyre’s nuts are secure but not overtightened, and that the air valve is readily accessible to check tyre pressure, even while mounted on the back of your van.”
STAGE 2: Hoist Work
Once a van passes the pre-delivery checks, our specialist mechanics begin the hoist work, making key upgrades that give our vans their robust off-road capabilities.
- Lovells fully off-road independent suspension is fitted, including heavy-duty shock absorbers and off-road coil springs.
- Genuine KOYO Japanese wheel bearings are packed.
- Laser wheel alignment is set.
STAGE 3: Interior Fit Out
At Stage 3, our skilled build team will install interior accessories, appliances and any extras the customer has upgraded to. It’s these final additions, most of which are standard inclusions like a quality air conditioner, that significantly enhance the comforts of life on the road. We blend rugged practicality with luxury interior features that make it possible to travel for longer without missing home!
STAGE 4: Electrical Testing
The van is so close to being ready – but there’s more to do before it’s ready for the new owner to drive it off the JAWA lot. It’s time to make sure everything works as it should.
A licensed electrician begins comprehensive testing of the van’s electrical system and all appliances and components, checking for any performance issues and ensuring everything is functioning correctly.
STAGE 5: Pre-Handover Detailing
Thorough interior and exterior caravan detailing ensures the new van is sparkling clean and ready for handover.
STAGE 6: Final Quality Control Checks
It’s almost time to put that big bow on the completed van, but first, our QC officer completes a final inspection, confirming that the work each team member has signed off on has been completed and that the van is ready to be handed over to its new owner.
