On (And Off) The Road Backyard Camping Ideas

There’s nothing more relaxing than getting away from home and into the great outdoors. But the current health situation has everyone spending a lot more time at home. With that in mind, you can still head outdoors with some backyard camping ideas.

While we know the backyard is not a faraway location, you can still have fun and maybe even enjoy some family bonding time as well. At least if anyone gets on your nerves, you can escape by heading into the house!

For great homestyle camping ideas, check out our blog below. If you need any further inspiration or need camping advice for when restrictions are lifted please contact our team at JAWA Offroad Camper Trailers on tel: 07 5479 6844 or enquire online here

Camping at Home

School holidays can’t always be spent on the road. If you’ve got eager little campers with no place to go, your backyard is the new HOT destination this summer!

  • Turn off the Wi-fi – If your favourite part of camping is being outdoors with no distractions, you can have that when camping at home too! Turn the internet off for an “off the grid” experience.
  • Make the most of Wi-fi – Alternatively, you can make the most of being home with Wi-fi while camping. We suggest setting up an outdoor cinema using an old sheet and a projector.
  • Go for a hike around your suburb – If you’ve got young kids, try making a bingo sheet before you go to keep them entertained or do a scavenger hunt.
  • Plan a camping menu – think of all the favourites you make when you go away or create a new dish!
  • Organise some games – Play cards, tell stories, look at the stars, anything you might normally do if you get to head away or come up with a new special game just for backyard camping.

What Else Can You Do?

  • Organise a joint campout with the neighbours – but ensure there is a fence in-between of course!
  • If you have new camping equipment, this is the perfect time to test it out and make sure it works.
  • It’s also a great opportunity to check on all your camping gear and see if anything needs to be serviced or replaced.
  • Plan your next trip or adventure for when you can go once restrictions are lifted.
  • Enjoy the time with your family!
