If you’re planning the ultimate boys weekend or need bachelor party ideas near Perth, you’ve come to the right place! Perth has plenty of pubs and clubs that will host your celebrations – but you’ve been to all of them a hundred times before. Sometimes the best boys’ trips are the ones where you ditch the hustle and bustle of the city.
Did someone say camping weekend with the boys? Yep, we did!
Just an hour or two out of Perth, you’ll find sun-soaked beaches, incredible fishing spots, and remote campsites where you can celebrate without annoying the neighbours.
So where should you go? Here are our top five recommendations.
Guilderton, Moore River Region
Distance from Perth: 90km approx. (1 hour drive)
Best For: An activity-filled weekend by the river – and the sea!
Head north with the boys to Guilderton, a seriously pristine coastal town where the Moore River Estuary meets the Indian Ocean. Outdoorsy types can take their pick of ocean activities like swimming, surfing, and beach fishing.
For river rats, there’s swimming, canoeing and kayaking, or hire a dinghy with rods for a spot of river fishing. Sandboarding The Desert is a must-do for adrenaline junkies, but distinguished gentlemen may prefer a round of golf (or footgolf!) at the Guilderton Country Club.
Guilderton Holiday Park is just metres from the beach and has camping sites for tents and caravans.
TIP: This holiday park is very family-friendly, so this weekend camping trip is best suited to a more chilled-out gath.
Avon Valley National Park, Perth Hills
Distance from Perth: 77.1km (just under 1.5 hours’ drive)
Best For: An off-the-grid weekend in nature
A trip to the Avon Valley National Park is perfect for days spent hiking through the spectacular native forest, taking in valley views from the granite outcrops and listening to the peaceful sounds of the Avon River and stream valleys. Keep an eye out for wildlife, too.

There are four campgrounds to choose from. Valley Campground provides the basics – pit toilets, picnic tables, untreated water, and fire rings – but it’s quieter and less popular with families than the others. Grab a beer and relax around the campfire (unless there are fire restrictions), and once it’s dark, don’t forget to look up. You’ve never seen a sky full of stars quite like this. When it’s time to call it a night, there’s no better place to sleep under the stars – or if you brought your off road camper along, you’ll have a comfy bed waiting for you. Nice.
TIP: BYO firewood and drinking water.
Dwellingup
Distance from Perth: 108km (just under 1.5 hours’ drive)
Best For: Big days of outdoor adventure, quiet nights under the stars
An easy drive south of Perth, Dwellingup has loads of activities to keep you busy, and the campgrounds at Lane Poole Reserve are the perfect base to kick off your adventures. Cycling enthusiasts can try one of the Holy Grail Mountain Bike Trails. And if heights aren’t a problem, try a heart-starting treetop adventure ropes course.

Depending on when you go, the Murray River offers fast water rafting (in winter) or a more gentle kayak paddle (in summer). Take a bracing dip in the Scarp Pool swimming hole or fish for marron, rainbow trout, redfin perch and cobbler (just make sure you have a recreational fishing license).
End the day with an esky full of beers and a night under the stars. Now that’s living!
TIP: If you’re an experienced 4×4 driver, check out the Captain Fawcett 4WD Trail.
Jurien Bay and Sandy Cape
Distance from Perth: 220km approx. (2.5 hours’ drive)
Best For: A cracking weekend of fishing and 4×4 driving
It’s a self-described sleepy coastal town but there’s plenty to do on a boys weekend in Jurien Bay. Get stuck into snorkelling, hiking, and cycling along The Turquoise Way. Keen fishermen can flick a line off the town jetty to catch pink snapper and Spanish mackerel, or take a rock lobster tour where you can snag up to eight lobsters to cook on the campfire for dinner. Hit up Kakka Alley Brewing Co. for craft beers and pizza.

Sandy Cape Recreation Park is 10km from Jurien Bay and is a seriously idyllic place to camp. If you’re travelling in a high clearance 4WD with a fully kitted out offroad camper, you can book one of the more secluded bush camping spots north and south of the main campground. Don’t miss Sandy Cape’s 4WD tracks. Most follow the coastline so expect showstopping views. Don’t forget recovery boards and a snatch strap.

Stockton Lake, Collie
Distance from Perth: 208km (2.5 hours’ drive)
Best For: Mountain biking and lakeside camping
The first thing you’ll notice is the colour of this artificial lake – it’s so crystal blue, it practically glows! Once an open-cut mine, Stockton Lake is now hugely popular for water skiing and canoeing. You can swim but the water can be slightly acidic so anyone with sensitive skin should take care.

Collie is known for its epic mountain biking trails so if you and the lads are keen riders, don’t forget to bring your bikes. Spend the day hitting the trails and then get the campfire going to cook dinner and enjoy a few beverages as the sun goes down. There are concrete fire rings provided but you’ll need to bring your own wood.
TIP: Stockton Lake campground can’t be booked so arrive early to snag a sweet lakeside camping spot. Amenities are limited so travelling with a compact camper with ensuite is a great idea.
Upgrade Your Boys Weekend
Camping with the lads is always a good time, even if your bed for the night is a swag pegged into the dirt. But there are undeniable benefits when you travel with a small off road camper.
Reach more remote camping spots and have everything you need to be fully self-contained.
Have somewhere comfy to sleep after a full-on day – or full-on kick-on!
