Camping with kids in the school holidays – beachfront bliss in Noosa

The Noosa North Shore Beach Campground is perfect for kids. Located on the north shore of the Noosa River, the campground is right on the beach and surrounded by National Park. It features a large camp kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and BBQ facilities. There are three toilet blocks located throughout the campground and a large amenities block that provides showers and laundry facilities. The site is popular with campers who love to get away from it all and enjoy fishing, surfing, bushwalking, beach walking or four-wheel driving.

Camping with kids in the school holidays – lakeside at Boreen Point

Enjoy bushland camping on the shore of the largest lake on the Noosa River – Lake Cootharaba. Boreen Point Campground is located within the Lake Cootharaba Bushland Conservation and Recreation Reserve. Campers choose their own area on arrival. Lake Cootharaba has been a popular location for recreational activities such as camping, fishing and sailing for more than 70 years. The lake has a long sandy foreshore, however camping is not permitted on the beach or foreshore. You may leave boats and watercraft on the beach during your stay. To enhance your experience, kayaks are available for hire from the campground office. Boreen Point sports facilities including a sports field, BMX track and basketball practice area. A children’s playground completes the experience. Note: Boreen Point Campground is not on town water. Campers must arrange their own water supply before arrival.

Camping with kids in the school holidays – Whitsundays tropical paradise

Set on five tropical acres, the Big4 Conway Beach Tourist Park Whitsundays is located a short drive from Airlie Beach. Popular with fishing enthusiasts and families, Conway Beach is at the mouth of the Proserpine River, renowned for its great fishing and crabbing. The park offers plenty of activities for the kids. Facilities include:

  • Pool with beach area
  • Waterslide
  • Water park
  • Spring toys
  • Tennis court
  • Basketball ring
  • Train Rides on the Conway Beach Express
  • Sandpit
  • Trikes for hire

Camping with kids in the school holidays – Murphy’s Creek Escape, Toowomba Range Crossing

Located near Toowomba, Murphy’s Creek Escape is a child and dog-friendly south-east Queensland camping escape with creekside picnic areas and fun for all the family. Watch dawn break on top of a canyon overlooking Murphy’s Creek Gorge and sit around a campfire with a glass of wine while toasting marshmallows. Activities include a 235m flying fox, abseiling and bushwalking. Horse riding and mountain bike riding is available around the property.

Camping with kids in the school holidays – Thunderbird Park

Located at Tamborine Mountain, Thunderbird Park offers a range of exciting experiences for every age group. As well as it being a picturesque camping ground, the camp site offers excellent activities, including laser skirmish, a high ropes course and plenty of walking trails. Thunderbird Park is a geologically rich oasis with an abundance of native wildlife, stretching over 112 hectares on Tamborine Mountain. Originating from the Mount Warning volcanic eruption 22 million years ago, Tamborine Mountain is located along the northern edge of the ancient caldera and aptly represents the ‘Green behind the Gold’ within the Gold Coast hinterland.
