What is Tare Weight and Aggregate Camper Mass?
Before you go hooking your shiny new hybrid camper up to your vehicle, there’s a few things about weight and towing you need to know.
What is tare weight?
The weight of the empty van or camper (net weight).
What is Aggregate Camper Mass (ATM)?
The combined weight of the camper and its full load when it’s not coupled to tow a vehicle.
How can you tell how much your vehicle can tow?
Every vehicle and model is different, you need to check online. One of the best places to find out more is on the RACQ website.
Does what you pack into the camper affect the weight restrictions?
The simple answer is yes. You need to go off the ATM for this amount.
How can you check you haven’t packed the camper too heavy?
The best thing to do in this situation is take it to a weighbridge.
